Privacy Policy
In short: media is processed on your Mac, and only the account and license data needed to validate access is used.
Account data
A specialized provider handles sign-in, email confirmation, and social credentials. The site stores only an account identifier, verified email, linked sign-in methods, revocable sessions, and minimal security records. AutoCaption does not store passwords.
Subscription and payments
Stripe handles payments and the subscription portal. We keep only billing identifiers, status, validity dates, and the resulting entitlement. Full card details never pass through AutoCaption servers.
Media processing
Selected files are processed on the device. Media, transcripts, and captions are not sent to the developer’s or third-party servers.
Recognition models
Some languages use a Whisper model downloaded on first use; others use models managed by macOS. Recognition happens on the Mac and media content is not sent.
Files and Final Cut Pro
The app reads the selected media and writes only requested exports. To create editable titles, it uses local Accessibility and Automation permissions granted by the user.
Feedback and diagnostics
Feedback may include the message, email, related error, and app and macOS versions. Technical diagnostics are optional and exclude media, transcripts, captions, file names or paths, and credentials.
Optional site analytics
Only after your express consent, the site stores first-party analytics for visits, account creation, checkout starts, and completed purchases. Random identifiers are pseudonymized, IP addresses are not stored, and records are retained for up to 13 months. Rejecting does not limit the site, and consent can be withdrawn at any time through Cookie preferences. We do not use advertising trackers.
Retention and deletion
Account, license, and feedback data is kept only as long as needed to provide the service, answer contacts, and meet legal obligations. The local session can be removed with Sign out.
